San Angelo Saints News Release

San Angelo, TX – The San Angelo Saints of the Central Hockey League announced today that they have filled the two roster vacancies left by the departures of goaltender Scott Murray and center Jon Howse, last week. The Saints have signed goaltender Michael Dilorenzo and previous Saints forward Bryan Lachapelle to contract.

Dilorenzo comes to the Saints from the Fresno Falcons of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), where he started out as an emergency back-up and shortly became the teams back-up goaltender. Before playing for Fresno, Dilorenzo, played for the Yarmouth Mariners of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League (MJAHL). With the Mariners he played 38 games with a record of 26-8-0 and having a goals against average of 2.93 and a save percentage of 90%. “We are glad to have Michael come in,” said Head Coach Ray Edwards. “He was a back-up goaltender that did not get to play and comes recommended from a person I trust.”

Lachapelle, the 5’9”, 185 lb, forward from Tay Township, Ontario, is not stranger to Saints fans. Lachapelle played two games with the Saints at the beginning of the season grabbing an assist and 2 penalty minutes. Lachapelle, then joined up with Saints former assistant coach and Fayetteville’s head coach Derek Booth, where he scored 7 goals and 7 assists in 20 games played and recorded 54 penalty minutes. “Bryan should give us the speed and energy that we need right now” stated Edwards. “He knows are system and will be beneficial on the penalty kill.”

In other player news, the Saints placed forward Trevor Weisgerber on the 45 day Injured Reserve, retroactive back to the December 10th game versus Laredo. Weisgerber received a shoulder injury during the game and is currently undergoing treatment for the injury. Also SaintÂ’s fans might notice a change in numbers as forward Nathan Rosychuk changes from #7 to #17 for the remainder of the season. The Saints host the Amarillo Gorillas tomorrow night at 7 PM.
