Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced Tuesday that they have re-signed forward Trent Daavettila for the 2015-16 season. During the 2014-15 campaign, the Howell, Michigan native led the team in scoring with 69 points, while also pacing the Eagles with 53 assists. It was the second straight year in which Daavettila led Colorado in both of those categories. He would also be named the ECHL Player of the Month in January of 2015.
"Trent has done a fantastic job of filling some very big shoes ever since he became the captain of this team," said Eagles president and general manager Chris Stewart. "His productivity and consistency provide us with a tremendous asset on the ice and we're excited to bring that kind of leadership back into our dressing room."
In three seasons with Colorado, Daavettila has notched 202 points in 189 games, including 57 goals and has a cumulative plus-minus rating of plus-22. The veteran forward has also registered 22 points in 19 post-season games with the Eagles.
"I'm definitely excited to get the season going in Colorado," said Daavettila. "It will be really great to face some new opponents this year and see some new teams coming through the Budweiser Events Center. I think this is going be a great season for us."
Since 2009, Daavettila has produced the most points in the entire ECHL with 466 (including playoff games). In that time, his 323 assists are also good for first, while his cumulative plus/minus rating of plus-82 is tied for first in the ECHL.
