Tulsa Oilers News Release

TULSA, OK - Colorado Eagles goaltender Clarke Saunders posted a 34-save shutout over the Tulsa Oilers Friday at the BOK Center in front of 7,445 in attendance in the first of three meeting this season between the two Western Conference teams.

Oilers goaltender Colin Stevens stopped all 11 Colorado shots in the opening period, while Saunders turned away all seven Tulsa attempts.

Colorado scored 45 seconds into the middle frame to break the scoreless tie, when Jackson Houck spun in front of the net and snuck a shot past Stevens' left pad. Right at the end of an Oilers power play, Eagles defenseman Michael Sdao joined a rush and ripped a shot into the top of the net for a short-handed goal to make it 2-0.

While the Eagles outshot Tulsa 12-2 in the first 14 minutes of the period, the Oilers closed the frame with a 12-0 shots advantage, but were held off the scoreboard through 40 minutes.

Darryl Bootland added a power play goal and an empty netter in the third period to add insurance to the Eagles lead, and Saunders finished with 34 saves in his first shutout of the season.

The Oilers and Eagles will meet again Saturday at the BOK Center at 7:05pm. The first 1,000 kids under 12 into the building will receive a Youth Oilers Jersey, sponsored by York Plumbing. Gates open at 6:05pm, and the Oilers will wear special Ugly Christmas Sweater jerseys, which will be auctioned off after the game in the OneOK Club on the concourse level.
