Dwight Anderson Signs with Als

Montreal, Feb. 16, 2011 - The Montreal Alouettes' vice president and general manager, Jim Popp, is pleased to announce that the team has signed free agent All-Star cornerback Dwight Anderson.
Anderson (5'11'', 188 lbs.), was named to the CFL All-Star team in 2010 as a member of the Calgary Stampeders. During that season, he recorded 49 defensive tackles and 5 interceptions that he returned for 246 yards and 2 touchdowns, tops in the CFL. He also recorded 7 knockdowns and forced 2 fumbles. He also won the Grey Cup in 2008, was named to the West Division All-Star team in 2009 and 2010 and was the Stampeders' Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2009.
"We are excited to give Dwight an opportunity to come in and compete. He has been one of the top DB's in the league over the last couple of years. He is fearless in his approach and plays a physical style game. He can help bring our already good secondary, to another level," said Popp.
Anderson, who spent the last three seasons in Calgary, also played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2007. He played 15 games and recorded 17 defensive tackles over two seasons with the St. Louis Rams between 2004 and 2005. He also played for the AFL Philadelphia Soul and the Carolina Panthers.

I feel like I have done what is best for my career, my family and myself. I look forward to being in a new city and furthering my goal of winning another championship," declared the newest member of the Alouettes' family.
