Everett, WA - It wasn't meant to be a record-tying night Monday as the AquaSox let their eighth straight win slip through their grasps in extra innings, 6-5.
The AquaSox got off to a quick start Monday as Jake Anchia batted in Connor Kopach for the first Everett run in the bottom of the first, 1-0. The action would continue in the fourth inning as Bobby Honeyman singles on a ground ball to right field. Aldemar Burgos' fielding error in right field would allow Honeyman to advance to third on his hit. Matt Sanders' sacrifice fly on the next at-bat would bring Honeyman home, 3-0.
The fifth inning would be the end of Max Roberts' night. Roberts finished with 5.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 2 BB, and 3 K.
Everett's Ulises Perez would take over on the mound in the top sixth. With two outs and a man on first, Dust Devil Dwayna Williams-Sutton would hit a two-run home run over the left field fence. Perez's night would end there, as David Ellingson took the mound. Ellingson stopped the two-inning skid, finishing with 3.0 IP, 1 H, 3 K.
The AquaSox were unable to put another run on the board in regulation. The game would head into extra innings for the first time this season. As per the new league rule, the Dust Devils began the tenth inning with a runner on second base. Tri-City took this to their advantage and brought in a run to take their first lead of the game, 4-3.
With two outs and runners on first and third, Josh Stowers' hit along the third base would tie the game up at four.
The Dust Devils were yet again able to take advantage of the preemptive base runner. Scoring two runs in the top of the eleventh. This proved to be a too much for the AquaSox to overcome in the bottom of the eleventh, and the game would end 5-6 Tri-City.
Tuesday the Frogs will travel to Spokane as they begin an eight-game road trip. They will return on the Fourth of July as Vancouver comes to town for a three-game set. Tickets for the series are available at AquaSox.com or by calling our Front Office (425) 258-3673.
