Boise Picks up Sweep, Beats Eugene 7-2

The Boise Hawks (6-5) had another big inning, scoring five runs in the 3rd frame and they rolled to a 7-2 victory, picking up the sweep over the Eugene Emeralds (5-6). The Hawks have now won three straight games after dropping four in a row coming into the series.

The Emeralds got on the board first as they got Fernando Kelli aboard to start the game. Kelli stole second and quickly Kwang-Min Kwon knocked Kelli in. Kwon then stole second and third and would score himself on a Jonathan Sierra groundout making it 2-0 Eugene.

The Hawks would score seven unanswered though. It started in the third when Greg Jones walked. After Jones walked, a wild pitch advanced him to second. Aubrey McCarty then struck out swinging but a wild pitched allowed him to get to first.

With runners on the corners, Cole Anderson walked to load the bases. Terrin Vavra knocked in a run by walking making it a 2-1 game. Kennard McDowell then hit into a double play scoring a run to make it a 2-2 game.

A wild pitch scored Anderson from third making the score 3-2 Boise. Harris then singled and got to second on an error by the left fielder. After Harris stole third, Castro then singled to score Harris making it 4-2 Hawks. Castro would later score in the inning after a passed ball while he was on third.

With Boise leading 5-2, Hawks starter Pearson McMahan threw five innings allowing two runs on three strikeouts. McMahan would pick up the win.

The Hawks scored two more runs in the 7th. Aubrey McCarty doubled, and later in the inning, Danny Edgeworth doubled to bring McCarty in making it 6-2. Harris would drive Edgeworth in on a single making the score 7-2 Hawks.

Boise got two innings of shutout baseball from Eric Hepple, and then PJ Poulin and Hayden Roberts worked the 8th and 9th to secure the win for Boise. Jose Albertos was the losing pitcher for Eugene.
