Durbin Delivers Second Straight Complete Game For Barnstormers, Spoiling Revs' Second Half Opener

The York Revolution did not get off to the start they had hoped to begin the season's second half, as Lancaster's J.D. Durbin went the distance for the second time in as many starts, helping the Barnstormers to an 8-1 win in the opener in front of 4,222 fans at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Friday evening. The Revs will look to even their second half record when they host the Barnstormers again on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. York's lead in the 2012 "War of the Roses" series shrinks to 6-5.

Durbin allowed just an unearned run, going nine innings for the second straight start. He has not allowed an earned run in his last 21.1 innings, and limited the Revs to just five hits while walking only one and fanning six. He finished strong, striking out four of the final five he faced in a 110-pitch effort.

York trailed just 1-0 through six before the Barnstormers blew things open in the late innings scoring four times in the seventh and three more in the eighth.

It led to another hard-luck loss for Revs starter Chris Cody (4-10) who allowed just three earned runs out of four total runs in 6.2 innings, his seventh quality start in his last 11 outings. He has now lost five straight starts, however, a stretch on which the Revs have scored just 9 runs for him.

Cody allowed just one unearned run through the first six innings, as Lancaster took a 1-0 lead in the second on a pair of York miscues. With two outs in the inning, Ryan Harvey reached on an errant toss to first when Cody attempted to handle his swinging bunt. Emerson Frostad followed with a single to right-center, moving Harvey to third. Frostad advanced to second on the throw, and Harvey scored when third baseman Chris Nowak's throw to second was mishandled by Liu Rodriguez attempting a quick tag on Frostad.

Cody allowed nothing further until Harvey crushed a home run to straightaway center leading off the seventh, his tenth of the season and ninth in his last 18 contests. It was also his fourth of the season against the Revs. Adam Godwin later ripped a two-out RBI double to right-center, ending Cody's night and increasing Lancaster's lead to 3-0. Fehlandt Lentini greeted reliever James Houser with a towering two-run homer to left, suddenly making it a 5-0 game.

Brad Boyer drove a two-run double to the right-center gap with two outs in the eighth, and pinch-hitter Bridger Hunt capped a long at-bat with an RBI double of his own down the left field line in his Barnstormers debut to cap Lancaster's scoring.

The Revs plated their only run when Rodriguez led off the home eighth with a double, took third on a passed ball, and scored on a sac fly by Salvador Paniagua.

Durbin (5-6) was able to avenge three losses and a 13.50 ERA against the Revs in his previous three starts against York this season by winning his third complete game of the season in Friday's game. His offense pounded 15 hits, including two homers and a club record-tying seven doubles.

The Revs were held to just five hits, four of which were singles, and were limited to just one run for the second consecutive game.

It was just the second time in six seasons all-time that the Revs have lost their second half opener.

York 's Omar Javier (1-5, 4.97) will start for the Revs on Saturday night coming off his first win, opposing Lancaster's Dwayne Pollok (5-0, 2.63).
