Lancaster Barnstormers All-Star corner infielder Terry Tiffee was acquired by the Atlanta Braves prior to Wednesday's Atlantic League All-Star game in Camden, it was announced today.

He will report to the Braves' Class AAA farm club in Gwinnett County, GA.

Tiffee, 33, was batting .297 at the time of his signing. He was tied for fifth in the Atlantic League in home runs and stood alone in fifth in RBI. The switch hitter from Arkansas had played nearly equal amounts of time at first base and third base this season. On May 30, he became only the second player in franchise history to belt three home runs in one game when he connected on each of his first three at bats against the Somerset Patriots.

The former Minnesota Twin first came to Lancaster to open the 2011 season and, coincidentally, was also hitting .297 at the time of his June 22 signing by the New York Yankees. He returned to Lancaster on August 31 and finished the regular season with a .293 average, 13 homers and 46 RBI. Tiffee hit safely in all five playoff games against York with eight hits overall in 21 AB. He swatted two homers and drove in six runs.

"Terry was one of our leaders," said manager Butch Hobson. "He is a really serious hitter. We will miss his bat in the middle of our lineup, but we will also miss his glove at the corners."

He will be replaced on the roster by infielder Bridger Hunt, who has previously spent time in the Atlantic League with the Long Island Ducks and Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Hunt, 26, signed originally with the Dodgers in 2006 and holds a career batting average of .277 and has hit .258 in 71 Atlantic League games. Along with a brief stay with the Blue Crabs earlier this year, Hunt has been with both Kansas City and Grand Prairie in the American Association.

"Bridger is a hard-nosed player," said Hobson. "He can fill in at second, short or third, or we can even put him in the outfield from time to time."

Tiffee becomes the fourth Barnstormer signed by a Major League organization this season, joining Rich Rundles (Orioles), Jesus Merchan (Padres) and Jason Urquidez (Red Sox).
