Duran Named An All-Star

Winston-Salem, NC - Frederick Keys right-handed pitcher Jose Duran has been named to the Carolina League All-Star team and will represent the league next Tuesday, June 22nd when the Carolina League All-Stars face the California League All-Stars in Myrtle Beach, SC. Duran joins Keys shortstop Greg Miclat and outfielder Ronnie Welty on the squad.

Duran, in his first year in the Orioles organization, has gone 3-1 with a 2.12 ERA in 15 appearances out of the bullpen. He dazzled in June allowing one runs in 17 and 1/3rd innings of work. Selected by the Orioles in the minor league phase of the Rule V Draft this off-season from the Houston Astros organization, Duran is in his second season at the Advanced Class-A level. In 2009, Duran pitched for the Lancaster JetHawks of the California League.

Duran and Wilmington pitcher Chris Dwyer were tabbed to replace Winston-Salem pitcher Nevin Griffith (disabled list) and Salem pitcher Alex Wilson (promotion) on the roster.
