Duplissie, Valdez - Can-Am League Players of the Week

DURHAM, NC - Nashua Pride INF Bryan Duplissie and Quebec Capitales RHP Luis Valdez has named by PA-Sportsticker, the official statistician of the Can-Am League, as the Teamline Direct Batter and Pitcher of the Week.
Duplissie batted .444 in seven games for the Pride. He hammered three home runs to along with eight RBI, five runs scored and four doubles. Duplissie also had 12 hits with an on-base percentage of .464 and a slugging percentage of .926. The 24-year-old is hitting .324 on the season with 10 home runs, 34 RBI, 60 hits and 18 doubles. He is first in the Can-Am in home runs and extra base hits (28), tied for first in doubles, third in slugging percentage (.584) and tied for fifth in runs batted in.
The native of East Swansey, NH is now in his third season with Nashua. In his previous two seasons, Duplissie had a combined batting average of .254 with 21 home runs, 77 RBI and 31 doubles.
This is the second time this season Valdez has been named a player of the week. In the 7-2 victory over the Sussex Skyhawks this past Thursday, Valdez went eight strong innings allowing two unearned runs on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts. The Dominican Republic native is currently 7-1 with a 1.68 ERA in 53 2/3 innings pitched. He is tied for first in the league in shutouts, second in earned run average and tied for third in wins.
Valdez was signed as a nondrafted free agent by the Cleveland Indians in June of 2003. He pitched the previous five seasons in the Indians organization.
