Des Moines Buccaneers News Release
From the beginning to the end of the 2023-24 hockey season, four of Iowa's United States Hockey League teams will battle for the Dupaco Cowbell Cup, with a record 48 scheduled games to determine this season's winner.
The series begins when the Dubuque Fighting Saints host the Waterloo Black Hawks on Friday, September 29th. It may then take until the final night of the USHL regular season to determine a winner: the Des Moines Buccaneers visit the Waterloo Black Hawks, while the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders simultaneously visit the Fighting Saints on Saturday, April 13th. This year's 48-game Dupaco Cowbell Cup slate is a jump from the 36 head-to-head games between Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Dubuque, and Waterloo which counted toward the series standings in 2022-23.
The Dupaco Cowbell Cup champion will be determined by the results of regular season USHL games played head-to-head between the contending teams. Two points will be earned for each win, with one point awarded for an overtime or shootout loss. This season, each participating club plays eight games against the others. As a result of the balanced schedule, every meeting will count toward the standings.
