Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Niagara IceDogs lost to the Ottawa 67's 8-5 in game one of their best-of-seven series Thursday night in Ottawa.

The IceDogs found themselves down early as Trent Mallette and Dante Salituro both scored in the opening five minutes. Vince Dunn answered for the IceDogs to make it 2-1 after one.

Jordan Maletta put a rebound past 67's goaltender Liam Herbst to tie the game, before Dunn's second of the night gave the IceDogs a 3-2 lead a couple minutes later. Travis Konecny scored a power play goal just past the midway point of the second to tie it at 3-3.

Three goals in the first five minutes of the third period by the 67's gave them a 6-3 lead. Dunn completed the hat-trick with a power play goal to make it 6-4, but Addison added his second of the game to restore the three-goal 67's lead. Dunn beat Herbst again for his fourth goal of the game, capping off an impressive night for the defenceman, but it wouldn't be enough as the IceDogs fell 8-5 in game one.

Game two will be Saturday afternoon at 1pm in Ottawa.
