Crazy Eights as 67's Explode for First Playoff Win in Three Years

OTTAWA - It might have been by design, but the Ottawa 67's went to the run-and-gun game plan and it worked for a successful return to the Ontario Hockey League playoffs for the first time in three years and an 8-5 victory in the team's post-season opener against the Niagara IceDogs, Thursday night at TD Place.

Knotted at 3-3 heading into the final period, the 67's stormed to a three-goal advantage on markers from Nathan Todd, Jeremiah Addison and Sam Studnicka early in the third.

The 67's lead the best-of-seven OHL Eastern Conference quarter-final 1-0. Game 2 is Saturday afternoon, 1 p.m., at TD Place.

Addison scored his second of the period later.

Trent Mallette and captain Travis Konecny, playing his first game since suffering an upper-body injury against the IceDogs earlier this month, also scored for Ottawa, while Dante Salituro had two goals and three assists.

Defenceman Evan de Haan also returned to the line-up after suffering an injury in the same game as Konecny earlier this month in St. Catharines.

Niagara defenceman Vince Dunn scored four goals in a losing cause. He had never scored more that twice in one game in is OHL career.
