Dumais Gets the Invite from Hockey Canada
December 5, 2022 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Halifax Mooseheads News Release
It's something the fans in Moose Country have been clamoring for all season, and today their wishes came true as Hockey Canada officially invited Halifax Mooseheads star forward Jordan Dumais to the National Junior Selection Camp. He earned it and he deserves it.
Dumais is enjoying another statistically massive season with the Mooseheads and leads the QMJHL in scoring with 54 points in 25 games, one year after putting up 109 points as a 17-year-old which led to the Columbus Blue Jackets selecting him in the 3rd Round of the NHL Entry Draft. He has been embroiled in a back-and-forth battle with Regina Pats superstar Connor Bedard for the CHL scoring lead so far this season.
The Île-Bizard, QC native was one-of-29 players to receive an invite from Hockey Canada for their selection camp (Dec. 9-12) ahead of the 2023 World Junior Hockey Championship to be held December 26th to January 5th in Halifax and Moncton.
Dumais was left off the 44-player summer camp roster that was announced in June, despite a strong finish to the 2021-22 season that saw him finish with the fourth-highest single season points in franchise history. His incredible play has continued throughout the first half of this season, forcing the hand of Hockey Canada to include him amongst the best players under the age of 20 in the nation.
Canada's selection camp begins this Friday in Moncton, NB and will include a pair of games versus University Sports athletes over the weekend. After the final roster is announced next week, Canada will continue to practice until opening the pre-tournament schedule on Monday, December 19th. In total, 11 games will be played throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia in advance of the World Juniors.
Canada will open its exhibition schedule with games at Avenir Centre in Moncton, N.B., on Dec. 19 and 21, facing Switzerland and Slovakia, respectively. Six exhibition games will take place in the Nova Scotia communities of Antigonish, Halifax and Truro. The final pre-tournament game will be a rematch of the 2022 World Juniors gold medal game, with Canada and Finland taking to the ice at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax on Dec. 23.
Canada begins the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship on Boxing Day vs Czechia at 7:30pm at Scotiabank Centre. Click here for the full schedule. Ticket Packages are on sale now, while tickets to individual games will go on sale Tuesday morning at TicketAtlantic.com.
