Wilmington Blue Rocks News Release

Wilmington, DE - Wilmington Blue Rocks starting pitcher Danny Duffy has been selected to appear in the 11th annual XM All-Star Futures Game which will be played on Sunday, July 12, at 2 p.m. in St. Louis.

Duffy would be the first active Wilmington Blue Rock to play in the premiere event of all Minor League baseball. Former Blue Crewers Dee Brown, Clay Bucholz, Jacoby Ellsbury and Rubén Gotay played in the game after finishing their tenure in Wilmington. Zach Greinke and Annibal Sanchez were selected to play in the game while on the Riverfront, but were promoted before the contest took place.

Duffy finished the first half 6-2 with a 2.85 ERA. He currently ranks sixth in the Carolina League in earned run average, and fourth in the circuit with 66 strikeouts. Duffy pitched a scoreless inning for the CL All-Star team in the Carolina-California League All-Star game on Tuesday. He is the youngest player on the Blue Rocks roster.

The 20-year-old southpaw has not lost a start since May 31, and has allowed more than three runs in a game only once all season. Baseball America rated the Lompoc, CA native as the Royals' No. 6 prospect before the season.

Major League Baseball, in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America, USA Baseball and the 30 Major League Baseball Clubs, selected the 25-man rosters for each club. Each Major League organization is represented, and players from all full-season Minor Leagues were eligible to participate.

Duffy will make his next start for Wilmington on Friday as the Rocks host the Potomac Nationals at 7:05 p.m. For tickets, or for more information, call 302-888-BLUE.
