THE HILLCATS: Lynchburg lost 9-4 to Kinston on Sunday afternoon in the final game of the first half of the season...The Hillcats split the four-game series at City Stadium with the Indians...Tonight is game one of a three-game series with Myrtle Beach, the fifth game in a row at Calvin Falwell Field for the Cats and the first contest of the second half of the season...

VS. MYRTLE BEACH: The Hillcats are 7-3 against the Pelicans thus far this season and are 3-0 in the Hill City...Last year the Pelicans took the season series 13-7...Lynchburg was 6-6 against the Birds until they lost seven in a row to drop the series...Myrtle Beach has the all-time advantage in the series 112-97, but they are 50-51 in Lynchburg...

LIFE AT THE TOP: Lynchburg finished the first half of the season with the best record in the Carolina League and tied for the second most wins in all of minor league baseball with 45 victories (only behind the Birmingham Barons, 48 wins)...They were in first place for almost every day of the first half of the season...

TOP CATS: This year's Hillcats team won 45 games and had the second best record in a half in team history...In 2002, the Cats went 47-23 in the first half en route to their Mills Cup championship...In 1983, the Lynchburg Mets went 49-20 in the first half and finished the campaign 96-43 on their way the CL crown...Lynchburg also finished with a better record in the half than any team in either half last season in the Carolina League...

POP CHAMPAGNE: Last Tuesday night Lynchburg clinched the Northern Division first half championship with a 10-3 win at Myrtle Beach...It marked the first time since 2005 the Hillcats have won a half and secured their first playoff birth in the Carolina League since that season as well...The Cats have made the playoffs five times and have two Mills Cup championships to their credit since they came into existence in 1995, one in 1997 and another in 2002...Lynchburg has won five league titles in their time in the Carolina League...

CROWNING ACHIEVEMENT: In the first half of the season the Hillcats finished with the most runs in the league (352), the second best ERA (3.68), the least amount of walks issued (156), the highest stolen base success rate (77%) and tied for the best fielding percentage (.977) in the circuit...

BITTERSWEET DEPARTURE: Following the conclusion of the first half of the season on Sunday, four Hillcats were notified of their promotion to Double-A Altoona...3B Pedro Alvarez, OF Miles Durham, RHP Michael Dubee and RHP Dustin Molleken all have earned the call-up to the Curve...Alvarez was leading the league in RBI (55) and second in the circuit in homers (14)...He hit his first home run with Altoona in his second game last night and homered again today in a Curve win...Durham was leading the league in hits (73), tied for third in doubles (19), tied for fourth in triples (4) and tied for second in extra-base hits (30)...Dubee was posting a 1.05 ERA in his 23 appearances with Lynchburg and had 53 strike outs to three walks in 37 and 1/3 innings of work this season overall...Molleken was 3-1 with a 3.48 earned run average in his second season with the Cats...Durham will remain on the Hillcats roster until tomorrow...

NO SHORTAGE OF SUPPLY: SS Chase d'Arnaud has been promoted to Lynchburg from Low-A West Virginia...The fourth round pick in last year's draft out of Pepperdine University was batting .291 with three home runs and 31 RBI in 62 games played for the Power...He also had 14 doubles, 17 stolen bases, 30 walks, a .394 on-base percentage and a .821 slugging percentage...

WELCOME BACK: OF Ciro Rosero was promoted to the Hillcats today from Short-Season Low-A State College, where he had played just three games...He was briefly with Lynchburg in 2007, playing five games and going 1-for-16 (.063)...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: LHP Cole Rohrbough was selected by the Braves in the 22nd round of the 2006 amateur entry draft as a draft-and-follow out of high school in North Medford, Oregon...After a year at Western Nevada College he made his professional debut at the Rookie level with Danville in 2007 and went 3-2 with a 1.08 ERA in eight games (seven starts)...He advanced to Low-A that season and went 2-0 with 1.29 ERA in six starts with Rome...Last season he returned to Rome and went 3-4 with a 4.94 ERA in 13 games (12 starts) before his promotion to Myrtle Beach at the Advanced-A level...With the Pelicans he posted a 2-2 mark with a 3.41 ERA in five starts...This season he has been limited to nine starts due to injury and has a 3-4 record with a 5.61 ERA...Rohrbough entered the season as the sixth ranked prospect in the Braves organization according to Baseball America...Tonight will be his first start against Lynchburg...
