Dudas Invited to Hockey Canada Junior Team Selection Camp
December 2, 2019 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release
Attack Captain Aidan Dudas has been invited to Canada's National Junior Team Sportchek Selection Camp in Oakville beginning December 9th and running until the 12th.
Hockey Canada will use the camp as an opportunity to continue its selection process as they prepare for the World Juniors in the Czech Republic.
Aidan Dudas is excited but acknowledges that it's tough timing with his current injury: "I'm really happy to have this chance with Hockey Canada. It's disappointing to get hurt at this time, but I'm going to be good to go." He adds: "An opportunity to be part of the National Junior Team is something every player dreams of and I'm looking to make the most of it."
As part of the selection process, Canadian hopefuls will play two games against a U SPORTS all-star team, Dec. 11 at 5 p.m. ET and Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. ET. Tickets for both games are available at HockeyCanada.ca/Tickets starting at $15 per game or $25 for both. All practices will be open to the public.
Following the camp, the team will travel to Europe for the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship, looking to add to the 31 medals (17 gold, nine silver, five bronze) Canada has won at the tournament since 1977. Team Canada last took top spot in Buffalo in 2018.
Last year, Nick Suzuki and Markus Phillips represented the Owen Sound Attack as members of Team Canada. Former Attack forward Jonah Gadjovich was part of the team that won the gold medal in 2018.
Attack Head Coach Al Letang was previously added to Team Canada's Hockey Operations staff as a pre-scout coach for the tournament.
The Owen Sound Attack wish Dudas the best as he participates in the selection camp and looks to continue our strong history of involvement in international play.
