
Solovyov Named to Belarus Under-20 National Team Training Camp Roster

MINSK, BLR. -Â The Saginaw Spirit are proud to announce in conjunction with Belarus Ice Hockey Association, that 19-year old defenseman Ilya Solovyov has been chosen to participate in training camp for the Belarusian National Under-20 Team that is set to compete in the 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division I, Group A hosted in Minsk, Belarus.
"The Saginaw Spirit organization is proud of Ilya Solovyov in his selection to Belarus Under-20 National Team training camp," said Spirit General Manager Dave Drinkill. "As a junior hockey player, it is an honor to represent your country in international play, especially this situation for Ilya, as his country is the host."
The 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division I, Group A will feature hosts Belarus, Denmark, Norway, Latvia, Austria, and Slovenia.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound native of Mogilev, Belarus leads the Spirit in defensive points, and is tied for fifth in the Ontario Hockey League in points among defenseman (27). Solovyov is second on the team behind Cole Perfetti (17), with 14 points on the power play this season.
Solovyov has drawn attention from NHL scouts in his first year playing in North America. He was ranked as a 'C' prospect in the latest edition of the NHL Central Scouting 'Players to Watch' list.
The Spirit selected Solovyov in the first round (53rd overall) in the 2019 CHL Import Draft.
