Ducks Sign Lansford

(Central Islip, N.Y., May 21, 2012) - The Long Island Ducks today announced that they have signed right-handed reliever Jared Lansford. The son of former Major Leaguer and current Colorado Rockies hitting coach Carney Lansford, Jared begins his first season in the Atlantic League.

Lansford spent Spring Training this year with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. The 25-year-old split the 2011 season with Double-A Midland and Triple-A Sacramento in the Oakland Athletics organization. He combined to post a 3-5 record with a 4.54 ERA and 10 saves in 50 games.

The California native spent his first seven years of professional ball in the Athletics organization. He went 11-6 with a 2.86 ERA in 18 games as a starter with Single-A Kane County in 2006 and compiled a 4-1 record with a 2.43 ERA and 12 saves as a reliever in 2010 with Double-A Midland. For his career, Lansford is 25-27 with a 3.80 ERA, 300 strikeouts and 42 saves in 215 games (30 starts). He was originally drafted by the Athletics in the second round of the 2005 amateur draft.

In a corresponding roster move, the Ducks placed right-handed pitcher Jeff Lyman on the inactive list.
