YORK, Pennsylvania - Beaumont, Texas native Derrick Gordon (1-1) earned his first win of the season for the Sugar Land Skeeters (10-14) with a fantastic five-inning performance allowing just one run against the York Revolution (8-15) Monday night at Sovereign Bank Stadium.

The Revolution scored first in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead off a Gordon wild pitch, but the Skeeters made sure that was the only run the Revs would score.

Sugar Land tied the game in the top of the third with the help of Drew Lock and Bubba Bell. Locke led the inning off with a walk and was brought home by an RBI-double from center fielder Bell. Jesus Sanchez (1-2) made his second start of the season, but he left with a tie game in the fourth before Omar Javier (0-3) relieved him with one out gone.

The Skeeters added two more in the top of the fourth with a few well placed singles into left from Ben Harrison and Octavio Martinez back-to-back, but the runs came on an error from Revs catcher Salvador Paniagua. With Iggy Suarez batting and two on with one out, he struck out on a double-steal attempt from the Skeeters base runners. Paniagua tried to catch the lead runner Harrison at third base to end the inning, but the ball sneaked past third baseman Ramon Castro and into left. The error allowed Harrison to walk across home plate untouched to give Sugar Land the lead, 2-1. Bell used his second hit of the night, an RBI double to left center, to score Martinez who now stood on third to push the lead up to two, 3-1.

Josh Pressley managed to sacrifice in the fourth run in the eighth to make the score 4-1, and Bell racked up his second RBI with a sacrifice to left to move the score to 5-1 in the ninth. A combination of Sean Morgan, Ryan Houston and Gary Majewski kept the Revolution's bats on lock-down through the final 3 innings. The Skeeters retired the final 10 batters in order and used 8 shutout innings to keep the Revs off the board.

The Skeeters play game two tomorrow night against the York Revolution with first pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CDT.
