(Central Islip, N.Y., Aug. 17, 2006) - The Ducks were defeated by the Barnstormers, 13-2, in front of 6,104 fans at Citibank Park on Thursday evening.
The Barnstormers put up a three-spot in the second and never looked back, adding a run in the third, five in the fourth and added four more in the sixth. Lancaster's scoring was halted in the sixth when Rob Cafiero came on in relief. The knuckleballer proceeded to toss 3.2 innings of scoreless baseball. Denny Harriger picked up his league-leading 13th win of the season, while Cory Bailey absorbed his first loss as a Duck.
On the night, six of Long Island's nine hits came from the trio of Carlos Hernandez, Erick Almonte and Bryan Goelz who each registered a pair of hits.
On Friday, the Ducks will welcome the Road Warriors to Citibank Park for a
three-game weekend series. Pat Ahearne (9-3) will take the hill against the
Warriors' Matt Scheuing (5-7). The first 1,500 fans in attendance will
receive drawstring bags courtesy of Modell's. Chris King will call all of
the action live from Citibank Park starting at 6:50 p.m. on WLIE (540 AM)

Carlos Hernandez extended his hitting streak to eight games, going 2-for-4, and collected an RBI in his fifth consecutive game.Brad King collected a hit and an RBI in four at bats, and with the effort has now had a hit in six consecutive contests.This evening's crowd of 6,104 raises the total to 2,939,994 fans that have enjoyed baseball at Citibank Park since April of 2000...The Ducks now need 60,006 fans to reach the 3,000,000 mark.
