(Sugar Land, Texas) - The Long Island Ducks and the Sugar Land Skeeters split a single-admission double header on Wednesday night at Constellation Field.

Offense came at a premium in both games, as the Ducks won game one 3-0, and the Skeeters won game two 2-1.

Both offenses were held scoreless in game one until the top of the fifth inning, when the Ducks came to the plate. Ruben Gotay doubled over the head of Skeeters right fielder Rene Tosoni to score Sean Burroughs and Cody Puckett. Fehlandt Lentini came to the plate later in the inning and singled up the middle to score Gotay, giving the Flock the 3-0 lead that would stand for the remainder of the game.

Mark Blackmar (3-1) earned the win for the Ducks, throwing six complete innings, allowing no runs on four hits, no walks, with six strikeouts. Sean Gallagher (1-3) was handed the tough-luck loss, pitching all seven innings for the Skeeters, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits, two walks, and two strikeouts. Todd Coffey pitched a perfect seventh inning, earning his fifth save.

The Ducks scored first in game two, as in the top of the second inning, Blake Tekotte singled to score Cody Puckett to put the Ducks up 1-0. The Skeeters would rally back quickly though. Patrick Palmeiro double, scoring Brooks Conrad and tying the game.

The Skeeters would score again in the fifth inning, as Jeff Dominguez would single to score Wilfredo Rodriguez and give Sugar Land a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Andrew Johnston (2-0) got the win for Sugar Land, pitching a clean inning with one strikeout in relief of Aaron Thompson. Dan Blewett (0-1) took the loss, allowing one hit, one run and no walks with no strikeouts. Derrick Loop picked up his fifth save.
