New Britain Bees News Release

(Waldorf, MD.) In a back-and-forth series finale at Regency Furniture Stadium, the New Britian Bees dropped the their third straight to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 4-3.

PITCHERS OF RECORD

W: Justin Berg (2-3)| L: Grady Wood (1-2) | SV: Cody Eppley (3)

Left-hander Josh Outman turned in his best performance of the season so far, striking out six while allowing just two runs in a season-high seven innings of work. The veteran pitcher did not factor into the decision, however, as the Blue Crabs rallied in the bottom half of the eighth inning against reliever Grady Wood. With two on in the eighth, Wood- who entered the game with a 1.26 ERA- allowed back-to-back RBI hits to Jamar Walton and Darby Myers to put Southern Maryland in front for good.

The Bees offense was able to piece together single runs in the first, fifth, and sixth innings off Blue Crabs' starter Shaun Garceau. Designated hitter Craig Maddox drove home two of the Bees' three runs with RBIs in the first and sixth, while Anthony Hewitt's third home run of the season in the fifth provided the rest of the Bees' offense for the night.

The Bees return home to start a six-game homestand tomorrow night, with the York Revolution visiting New Britain Stadium this weekend. Cole Johnson, second in the league in ERA, will get the ball to start the series.
