March 7, 2020 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

Dubuque secured a point with a furious third period comeback but couldn't get the extra point as Mathieu De St Phalle ended things in overtime for a 6-5 Steel win. Dubuque scored three in the third and Riese Gaber became the Saints Tier-1 goal scoring leader in the loss. Chicago moved their win streak to match their longest of the season at 13.

1st Period:

-Chicago wasted little time picking up where they left off on Friday night, scorching into the Fighting Saints zone regularly with speed in the first five minutes. Chicago broke the ice with a goal from Jimmy Dowd Jr off the skate of Kaelan Taylor

-Chicago added to their lead with two more as Ellis Hede took a slap pass from Brock Huard and deflected it past Aidan McCarthy. Shortly after, Tyler Carpenter scored to extend the lead to 3-0 for Chicago at the 15 minutes mark.

-Dubuque went to the power play late in the first as Brendan Brisson took a four-minute penalty. Mark Cheremeta struck first for Dubuque as he was fed a beautiful cross-crease pass from Riese Gaber. Moments later, with just seven seconds left in the first, Dylan Jackson fed his brother Ty for a backdoor goal to push the Saints within one heading into the intermission.

2nd Period:

- The first 10 minutes of the period went by without incident on the scoreboard, but the pace was reminiscent of the first. Both teams traded a few chances and the physicality was noticeably higher than the first period.

-Sam Colangelo scored the first of the second period, nestling a wrister behind McCarthy from the point. The tally stood up as the only goal of the middle stanza. Dubuque killed off all four power plays for Chicago in the middle frame.

-Antonio Venuto engaged in just the fourth fight of the season for Dubuque against Tyler Carpenter. After a big hit from Venuto, Carpenter challenged the Saints forward and Venuto got a few good shots in before the pair wrestled to the ice.

3rd Period:

-In a wild third period, Dubuque scored three times to push the game to overtime. The Fighting Saints started the third period with a good buzz and Ty Jackson got his second of the game at the 6:42 mark. Shortly after, John Spetz answered for Chicago to make it 5-3.

-Dubuque roared back, scoring twice in the following minute as Riese Gaber notched career goal 56 to pass Seamus Malone for most in the Tier-1 era for Dubuque. Dylan Jackson potted point 99 in the USHL less than a minute after as he slide a pretty goal past a sliding Ian Shane.

-In the overtime period, Mathieu De St Phalle ended things for the Steel with a 2-1 feed from Matt Coronato. De St. Phalle now has 60 points on the USHL season.
