Southpaw Eric DuBose limited the Binghamton Mets to three hits over eight innings, helping the Bowie Baysox to a 6-1 win at Prince George's Stadium Saturday. The B-Mets have dropped the first two in the series at Bowie and six of seven overall.
Bowie (54-63) took a 2-0 lead in the first. Bryan Bass began the rally with a one-out single before Miguel Perez walked Jeff Fiorentino. Two batters later, Leo Daigle hit a two-out double to right, scoring both.
In the fourth, Perez (6-5) hit Ryan Hubele with a pitch before Rayner Bautista singled. After Perez fanned Gera Alvarez for the second out, Todd Donovan reached on an infield hit before Bass hit a ball that B-Mets centerfielder Carlos Gomez lost in the twilight. The result was a three-run triple for Bass, who came home on Fiorentino's single to center for a 6-0 Bowie lead.
The B-Mets (61-56) were no-hit for the first 5 2/3 innings by DuBose (7-1), who finished with 10 strikeouts. Corey Ragsdale accounted for Binghamton's only tally, when he homered to right at the start of the eighth.
Sunday, the B-Mets play a doubleheader to wrap up their four-game series in Bowie. Lefthanders William Collazo (6-6, 3.21) of Binghamton and Garrett Olson (4-3, 3.27) of Bowie will start Game One. Bryan Edwards (3-6, 4.73) gets the ball for Binghamton in the second game against Brian Finch (4-11, 3.66) of Bowie. The first pitch is slated for 4:05 at Prince George's Stadium with the radio broadcast starting at 3:50 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
