New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester,NH - Manny Mayorson's 13th inning single scored Ryan Klosterman to give the New Hampshire Fisher Cats a 5-4 victory over the Trenton Thunder before 6,021 fans at MerchantsAuto.com Stadium.
Klosterman beat out an infield single against Gerardo Casadiego (1-1) leading off the bottom of the 13th. After Curtis Thigpen laid down a sacrifice bunt, Dustin Majewski (2-for-3, HR, 4 BB) was intentionally walked for the second time in the game. Mayorson drilled a hit-and-run single to right-centerfield, easily scoring Klosterman to give the Fisher Cats their ninth win in 16 meetings with Trenton (65-54), salting away the season series in the longest game of the season (4:06).
The Fisher Cats took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a Francisco Butto wild pitch and an Erik Kratz run-scoring ground out.
Vince Faison hit a solo home run, his 13th, off Ismael Ramirez (6 IP, 3 ER, 4 H, 4 BB, 4 K) in the top of the second inning to trim New Hampshire's lead to 2-1. The Thunder tied it, 2-2, when Brett Gardner scored on a Ramirez wild pitch in the third.
New Hampshire reclaimed the lead, 3-2, on Majewski's 12th home run of the season, a solo blast off Butto with two outs in the fifth inning.
Faison's sacrifice fly tied the game, 3-3, in the sixth, and Gabe Lopez's sac fly in the seventh gave Trenton a 4-3 lead.
The Fisher Cats forced extra innings when Trenton third baseman Grant Plumley committed a fielding error on Mayorson's two-out grounder in the bottom of the ninth inning, allowing Klosterman to score from third base.
New Hampshire and Trenton wrap up their season series Sunday afternoon at 1:05pm when David Purcey (3-3, 5.80) pitches against Philip Hughes (7-3, 2.63) at MerchantsAuto.com Stadium. The first 1,500 kids in attendance will receive a free Fisher Cats' t-shirt. For tickets, call (603) 641-2005 or visit www.nhfishercats.com
