Altoona Curve News Release
RHP Brian Rogers, who was acquired by the Pittsburgh Pirates in a trade deadline deal for 1B Sean Casey, has been promoted to Triple-A Indianapolis. The 24-year old right-hander was assigned to Altoona following the July 31st trade and appeared in two games for the Curve, tossing four scoreless innings, including a two-inning save in Monday's win over the Connecticut Defenders.
Rogers began the season pitching for Double-A Erie in the Tigers' organization and posted a 3-2 record with one save and a 2.39 ERA in 37 relief appearances for the SeaWolves. He was selected as an Eastern League mid-season All-Star and participated in the Eastern League All-Star Game on July 12 at Blair County Ballpark.
LHP James Johnson has been activated from the Disabled List to fill Rogers' spot on the roster. Johnson has pitched in 10 games this season for Altoona, posting a 4.50 ERA (16.0 IP/8 ER).
The Curve continue their road trip with the middle game of a three-game set against the New Britain Rock Cats (AA/Minnesota Twins) Saturday night at New Britain Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM.
