Dubnyk, Spurgeon join Penguins from Stockton Thunder

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Edmonton Oilers have reassigned goaltender Devan Dubnyk and center Tyler Spurgeon from the Stockton Thunder to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, it was announced on Wednesday.

Dubnyk, 20, has appeared in 24 games with the Thunder, posting a 13-5-3-3 (w-l-otl-sol) record, a 2.57 goals against average and a .920 save percentage. The rookie netminder currently ranks seventh in the ECHL in goals against average, tied for seventh in save percentage and tied for 12th in wins. He played for the National Conference team at the 2007 Rbk Hockey ECHL All-Star Game in Boise, ID earlier this month.

The 6-5, 210 pound goalie played four-plus seasons with the Kamloops Blazers (WHL), posting an 83-87-14 (w-l-t) record in 192 games between 2001 and 2006. The Calgary native was drafted by the Oilers in the first round (14th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Spurgeon, 20, has recorded 29 points (13+16) in 39 games with the Thunder this season, ranking third on the team in goals and fourth in points. The rookie forward has also posted a plus-seven rating with 26 penalty minutes.

The 5-11, 190 pound center played four-plus seasons with the Kelowna Rockets (WHL), recording 124 points (43+81) in 212 games between 2001 and 2006. The Edmonton native was drafted by the Oilers in the eighth round (242nd overall) on the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
