
Drive Walk off with 5-4 Win in 10 Innings

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Drive (9-14) lost the lead in the ninth inning, but defeated the Delmarva Shorebirds (12-11) 5-4 on a walk off hit in the tenth inning at Flour Field on Saturday night.
The Drive took an early lead in the first inning. Mookie Betts hit a line drive triple to the wall in left-center field to open the inning. He scored on a wild pitch by Shorebirds starter Brady Wager.
The Shorebirds grabbed their first lead in the third. Roderick Bernadina reached on a push bunt to the right side to open the inning. Two batters later, Gregory Lorenzo tripled to the right-center field wall to score Bernadina. Lorenzo scored on a one hopper up the third baseline by Adrian Marin.
Greenville regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Drew Turocy led off with a towering triple off the base of the right-center field wall. Then, Boss Moanaroa doubled to left-center field to tie the game at 2-2. With two outs, Jordan Weems ripped a double through the right-center field gap to lift the Drive in front 3-2.
Shorebirds starter Brady Wager went 5.1 innings and allowed six hits and two runs. He did not factor into the decision.
Greenville reliever JB Wendelken retired all 12 batters he faced between the fifth and eighth innings.
The Shorebirds got to Wendelken in the ninth inning. Wynston Sawyer hit a line drive double to right field. Then, Torsten Boss doubled to right to trim the gap to 4-3. Wendelken was called for a balk to advance Boss to third. With one out, Bernadina hit a liner to second that was caught by Mookie Betts, who threw wild to third to try and double off Boss. The ball got away and Boss scampered down the third baseline to score the tying run.
In the bottom of the tenth, Greenville scored a run against Williams Louico. Turocy drew a one out walk. He moved to third on a liner to right field by Moanaroa. Then, Aneury Tavarez delivered the walk off single to center to score Turocy.
Drive reliever Madison Younginer earned the win over 1.1 innings. He allowed three hits and no runs.
Lorenzo went 3-for-5 while Sawyer went 2-for-5.
The Shorebirds and Drive play game three of the series on Sunday, April 28 at 4:05pm.
