Drive Topped by Renegades

Greenville, SC - After extra innings, the Greenville Drive fell short to the Hudson Valley Renegades in the fifth game of the series with a final score of 5-4.

Hudson Valley put their first run on the board early in the game. Eric Wagaman made the effort for the Renegades as he hit an RBI double in the first inning.

The home team added another run at the bottom of the third thanks to a homer from Eric Bowman. The Drive struggled at the plate while the Renegades extended their lead to 3-0 over Greenville.

After a dry spell, the Drive put up three runs in one inning to tie the ball game. Tyler McDonough started things off with a double to land Alex Erro at home. Matthew Lugo was able to reach base on fielder's choice and McDonough took his opportunity to score a run for Greenville. Nicholas Northcut closed out the sixth inning with an RBI double tying the score 3-3.

The Drive came out of the scoreless seventh inning to take the lead thanks to Gilberto Jimenez an RBI double and Niko Kavadas was able to score his second run of the game making Greenville lead by one run at the top of the eighth.

The game went into extra innings after Hudson Valley scored a run at the bottom of the ninth. The Renegades ultimately secured the win at the bottom of the tenth allowing them to lead the series.

Greenville finishes up the series at Hudson Valley tomorrow at 2:05.
