Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, SC - It was a battle of the bats tonight as the Greenville Drive (10-14) and the Rome Braves (14-10) took the field on Cinco De Mayo. With the series tied 1-1, both were looking to take the lead. The Drive came out on top in a 7-4 win.

The first frame was scoreless, but the second inning came with a homerun from Nicholas Northcut, who currently leads the league in homeruns with 10. Matthew Lugo walked before Northcut's homer, so he came home as well.

The fourth inning Stephen Scott hit it to the parking lot adding two runs since he brought Northcut home with him.

The Braves chipped away at the lead in the fifth inning. Cody Milligan's RBI double brought home two runs. Willie Carter also came home off the bat of Vaughn Grissom.

Greenville answered with a Ceddanne Rafaela home run. His homerun also brought Tyler McDonough to the dish.

In the seventh, Rome's Justyn-Henry Malloy brought Cody Milligan home to narrow Greenville's lead. The battle at the plate continued with Matthew Lugo's home run to left center field.

The next two frames were scoreless, and the Drive secured the win and took the lead in the series.

Greenville will be back at Fluor Field playing at 7:05 against Rome.
