June 20, 2013 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Greenville Drive News Release

The Greenville Drive (0-1, 22-48) were back in action Thursday night after the all-star break, but very little offense and shaky defense gave the visiting Hagerstown Suns (1-0, 39-29) a 14-1 victory at Fluor Field.

The Drive got off to a quick start thanks to David Chester's homer to center field in the bottom of the first. The solo shot was his 11th home run of the season. He added a lead-off single in the sixth for his 13th multi-hit game of 2013.

Hagerstown answered back in the second with a run and then tacked on seven runs in the fourth, only one of which was earned. The fourth was capped off by a three-run home run by Estarlin Martinez. The Suns posted another four runs in the fifth with the help of three consecutive doubles and another Drive error.

A third Greenville error in the top of the eighth allowed Hagerstown's final two runs to come in.

Luis Diaz (1-4) took the loss, as he allowed seven hits and eight runs, only two of which were earned. He struck out four batters. Brett Mooneyham (3-1) rode the big offensive performance to a win. He allowed just the solo homer in five innings while striking out four.

Six Hagerstown players picked up multi-RBI games in Friday's contest. Martinez drove in three, while Matt Foat, Craig Manuel, Narciso Mesa, Stephen Perez and Shawn Pleffner all drove in two. Foat picked up three hits, while Mesa and Pleffner added two hits apiece.

Game two of the four-game series is Friday night at Fluor Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. RHP Francellis Montas (1-5, 5.82 ERA) will start for the Drive, and he will face LHP Nick Lee (1-2, 5.32 ERA) for the Suns.
