Dayton Dragons News Release
Eastlake, Ohio--The Midwest League game between the Dayton Dragons and Lake County Captains in Eastlake, Ohio on Tuesday, August 12 has been suspended due to rain. The game was suspended with the Captains leading 2-1 and the Dragons batting in the top of the fifth inning.
Tuesday's suspended game will be resumed on Wednesday, August 13 starting at 6:00 p.m. (EDT) in Eastlake. The suspended game will be resumed in the fifth inning and continue to nine scheduled innings. The second game of the doubleheader will be a seven-inning game.
Lake County took a 2-0 lead in the first inning against Dragons starting pitcher Nick Howard. Eric Haase walked with two outs and scored on Nellie Rodriguez's double to the fence in left-center field. Rodriguez scored on Mike Papi's single to right to make it 2-0.
The Dragons scored their run in the second when Phillip Ervin lined a single to center, Tanner Rahier grounded to third base into a fielder's choice with Ervin out at second, and Jose Ortiz lined a double to left-center to score Rahier from first base to make it 2-1.
With the Dragons batting with two outs and the bases empty in the top of the fifth, heavy rain began falling and the field quickly became unplayable.
