Grand Rapids, Mich.-Kurtis Muller belted a home run and drove in two runs and the Dayton Dragons battled back from a four-run deficit to defeat the West Michigan Whitecaps 8-6 on Saturday night. The Dragons trailed by scores of 4-0 and 6-4 but came back with a four-run seventh inning to rally for the win.

West Michigan came out swinging, scoring four runs on five hits in the first inning. Eugenio Suarez, Steven Moya, and Pat Leyland all had RBI doubles in the inning.

The Dragons came back in the third. Danny Vicioso lined a double to the left field corner to start the inning and Junior Arias reached on an infield single. Brandon Dailey sacrificed the runners to second and third. Muller singled to right to drive in Vicioso, and Joe Terry delivered a base hit to drive in Arias and make it 4-2. Muller eventually scored on an error as Dayton pulled to within one at 4-3.

In the fifth, Muller drilled a home run, his second in five games with the Dragons, to tie the game at 4-4.

West Michigan scored two runs in the sixth to regain the lead, but the Dragons answered with a big seventh. Dailey and Muller started the inning with back-to-back walks and Terry delivered a perfect bunt single to load the bases with no one out. One batter later, Ryan Wright walked to force in a run, and Kyle Waldrop also drew a bases loaded walk to tie the game. Yovan Gonzalez then lined a single to right to drive in Terry and break the 6-6 tie. Wright scored on Vicioso's ground out to make it 8-6 and close out the scoring.

Dragons reliever Ryan Kemp (1-0) tossed two and one-third innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one base runner on a bunt single, to earn the win. Carlos Contreras pitched a perfect ninth for his third save.

Dragons starting pitcher Tanner Robles worked the first five and two-thirds innings, allowing nine hits and six runs with two walks and two strikeouts.

The Dragons finished with 11 hits. Muller, Terry, Wright, and Vicioso each had two hits. Wright extended his hitting streak to nine straight games. The Dragons have scored at least six runs in five of their last six games.
