Dayton Dragons News Release

DAYTON, OHIO - The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster changes today:

Outfielder Daniel Pigott has been promoted to Dayton from extended spring training, where he had been rehabilitating from surgery on his left foot.

Infielder Robert Ramirez has been sent from Dayton to extended spring training.

The Dragons roster currently stands at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.

Pigott spent his first season in professional baseball at Billings in 2012, batting .308 with three home runs and 31 runs batted in while playing all three outfield positions. Pigott was drafted by the Reds in 2012 in the ninth round out of the University of Florida, where he helped the Gators to the 2012 College World Series.

Pigott was the starting center fielder at Florida in 2012 for a team that finished the year ranked #3 in the nation. As a senior at Florida , Pigott batted .318 with eight home runs and 41 RBI in 67 games. He belted a go-ahead home run in the top of the 10th inning of the NCAA Super Regional vs. North Carolina State that sent his team on to the CWS.

Pigott was the Most Valuable Player of the 2011 Southeastern Conference tournament when he led the Gators to their first SEC Tournament title since 1991. Florida eventually went all the way to the College World Series finals before losing to South Carolina and finishing as the #2 team in the country. He finished his career ranked fourth on the school's career list for games played. He was also named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll two times during his four seasons at Florida. Pigott is a native of Daytona Beach, Florida.

Pigott is one of four members of the 2013 Dragons who played a key role for a team in the eight-team 2012 College World Series, joining Seth Mejias-Brean of national champion Arizona and Beau Amaral and Jeff Gelalich, both of UCLA.

Ramirez appeared in 44 games for the Dragons this season, primarily at second base. He batted .211 with two home runs and 19 runs batted in.
