TinCaps Announce Roster Moves

June 7, 2013 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release

The Fort Wayne TinCaps, in conjunction with the San Diego Padres, announced the following roster moves today:

OF Jeremy Baltz placed on the disabled list, retroactive to Tuesday, June 4th. The 22-year-old Baltz last played on May 28th, going 2-for-5 against Lansing. For the season, the Vestal, N.Y., native is batting .268, with a team-lead-tying five home runs and 33 runs batted in, which ranks first on the team. Baltz had been selected as the starting designated hitter for the Eastern Division All-Star team, but now an alternate chosen from among all nominated players in the division will be selected by Midwest League Commissioner George Spelius.

OF Wynton Bernard transferred from Short-Season Eugene to Fort Wayne. Bernard, 22, played in four April games with Advanced-A Lake Elsinore of the California League, going 3-for-14. Last season, after being selected in the 35th round out of Niagara (N.Y.) University, he hit .232 with one home run and nine runs batted in over 23 games with the rookie-level Arizona League Padres. A three-year starter at Niagara after transferring from Riverside (CA) Junior College, he hit .314 in 2012 and led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) with 32 steals.

Fort Wayne's roster stands at the Midwest League limit of 25 players, with four on the disabled list. An updated roster is attached.
