Doug Brown And Jason Armstead Named Players Of The Week

WINNIPEG, MB - Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive tackle Doug Brown and return specialist Jason Armstead were named the players of the week by the CFL on Wednesday for their performances in the CFL East Semi-Final. Brown earned his first weekly honour for top Canadian, while Armstead hauled in his third special teams player of the week accolade in 2008.
Brown finished the post-season affair with six tackles and a quarterback sack, while anchoring a Winnipeg defence that gave up only 56 rushing yards. Armstead, meanwhile, was electrifying once again, returning nine punts for 122 yards, including one 93 yards for a touchdown.
Armstead had previously been named the CFL's special teams player of the week on Oct. 1 and Oct. 29. The University of Mississippi product was acquired by the Blue Bombers as a free agent on Aug. 12.
