The Auburn Doubledays, Single-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, dropped the final game of a three-game series against the Staten Island Yankees, 2-0, on Tuesday morning. Starting pitcher Tyler Watson tossed five innings of two-hit baseball during the game.

The game was tied until the bottom of the eighth inning when Staten Island (24-19) brought home a pair of runs. Eduardo Navas led off the inning with a single. Carlos Vidal then singled as Navas advanced to third base to put runners on the corners. Nick Solak followed with a single to right field that scored Navas and moved Vidal to third base to put the Yankees up 1-0. Drew Bridges then walked to load the bases. Two batters later, with Dom Thompson-Williams batting a passes ball allowed Vidal to score, giving State College a 2-0 lead.

Auburn (19-25) got another excellent start from Watson. The left-hander allowed just two hits in five innings of action. Watson walked two batters and struck out five.
