Somerset Patriots News Release
Lancaster, Pennsylvania - The Somerset Patriots (35-23) earned a split of Wednesday's doubleheader with a 2-1 win in game two over the Lancaster Barnstormers (20-37) at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
Both starting pitchers held the opposition off the scoreboard over the first four innings before Somerset broke through in the fifth. Michael Ohlman (3) lifted a two-run home run just over the short porch in right field to put the Patriots ahead 2-0. That wound up being all the offense Somerset would need on the night.
Lancaster had opportunities early against Somerset starter Thomas Dorminy (W, 3-4), including loading the bases in the first inning, but ultimately could not come through. The lefty tossed six shutout innings and scattered five hits and two walks with six strikeouts on the night.
Dorminy retired the final six batters that he faced to top off the impressive start and drop his season ERA to 2.61.
It was not until Joe Terdoslavich (12) lined a solo home run off Patriot relief pitcher Mike Broadway in the bottom of the eighth that the Barnstormers got on the board.
The Patriots then brought in Mike Antonini (S, 22) for the bottom of the ninth, in which the southpaw put down the Barnstormers in order to finish the ballgame.
Buddy Baumann (L, 2-7) suffered a tough-luck loss for Lancaster after he yielded just two runs and four hits with seven strikeouts over a complete-game effort.
The Patriots and Barnstormers conclude their four-game series Thursday evening. Lefty David Holberg (0-2, 4.22 ERA) takes the mound for the Patriots against Lancaster righty Jonathan Albaladejo (0-3, 5.28 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
The 2019 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Friday, June 28th when the team returns to TD Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 pm game against the Long Island Ducks.
