Monterey Bay FC News Release
SEASIDE, Calif. - Monterey Bay F.C. earned an impressive 3-1 home win over San Diego Loyal SC over the weekend to reinvigorate their bid for a Western Conference playoff spot. Following the Union's come-from-behind victory, defender Morey Doner and midfielder Sam Gleadle have earned USL Championship Team of the Week Honors for Week 26.
Doner's top-11 honor comes after a performance that included bagging the game-winning assist for the Union on Christian Volesky's goal in the 60th minute. In addition, Doner won eight duels and recorded four tackles and two clearances in the match.
Gleadle's team-of-the-week performance propelled the Crisp and Kelp's comeback against San Diego. After going down a goal in the first 20 minutes, Gleadle managed to pull one back for Monterey Bay F.C. moments before the halftime whistle. Then with Loyal SC pushing hard for an equalizer late in the match, Gleadle buried a second goal on the night to secure the full three points. He also added an interception, a blocked shot, a tackle, and created two additional chances.
Below is USL Championship's full Team of the Week for Week 26 lined up in a 3-4-3 formation:
