Romario Piggott Named to USL Championship Team of the Week

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The USL Championship announced Tuesday the Week 26 Team of the Week, which features Battery midfielder Romario Piggott among the week's top players after he scored one goal and added one assist in the 3-0 win over New York Red Bulls II on Saturday.

The Panamanian assisted Charleston's opening goal against New York Red Bulls II after initiating a counterattack from the Battery's defensive third. He later added a goal of his own from the penalty spot to double the team's lead. Overall, Piggott tallied four chances created, four duels won, two tackles won and six recoveries.

"It feels good to be named to the team of the week but it's always a whole team effort," said Piggott. "We will use the same energy and momentum in the next match, against Tampa Bay."

The award helps cap off the latest round of contests and the club will now shift their focus to the home match on Saturday, September 10, against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

The Battery are back at Patriots Point this Saturday and will look for back-to-back wins when they face the Tampa Bay Rowdies at home.
