Willmar, MN-- The brilliance of the Rox pitching staff was on display on Friday night in Willmar, as they held the Stingers to 1 run on just 3 hits as the offense added timely hitting to escape with a 2-1 victory.

Domenick Carlini (Southeastern Louisiana) was brilliant in his second start of the season, going 6 innings giving up just one run on two hits and striking out six Stingers batters.

Robbie Petty (Nicholls State) pitched one inning in relief of Carlini, but picked up right where he left off as he retired all three batters he faced.

Brandon Benson (Georgia State) was 2-4 on the evening, and scored the first Rox run of the game in the top of the third on a Michael Strem (Boston College) sacrifice fly.

In the top of the 8th inning with runners on second and third, Liam Bedford (Doane College) laced a one out single into left field to give the Rox the 2-1 lead, as Austin Athmann (University of Minnesota) came around to score.

Trevor Charpie (Saddleback CC) entered on the mound in the 8th inning for St. Cloud, and although the Stingers loaded the bases, Charpie struck out pinch-hitter Storm Wilson on three straight fastballs to escape the jam. Charpie then came on in the 9th inning and retired the Stingers in order to earn the save.
