Lincoln Saltdogs News Release
SAINT PAUL, Minn. -- The Saltdogs (21-17) overcame a big deficit early but ultimately fell to the St. Paul Saints (19-19) 6-4 in front of 4,668 fans at Midway Stadium Tuesday night.
Lincoln spotted the Saints to a four-run first inning lead, committing two errors which led to four unearned runs.
The 'Dogs tied the game in the top of the third thanks to five consecutive two-out singles.
St. Paul then took the lead on a Brad Boyer RBI fielder's choice in the fifth and padded their advantage with a Jose Hernandez run-scoring single in the eighth.
Wes Roemer (4-4) pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on 12 hits to pick up the win. Mike Burns (2-2) pitched very well in defeat, going seven innings while allowing just one earned run on eight hits. Matt Meyer worked a perfect ninth to earn his eighth save.
