'Dogs Drop Finale to Fargo-Moorhead

LINCOLN, Nebraska - Rookie Zach St. Pierre allowed one run in 4 and 1/3 innings in his professional debut, but the Saltdogs couldn't make up an early deficit in a 6-1 loss to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at Haymarket Park on Sunday afternoon.

St. Pierre's relief outing was the longest for a 'Dogs pitcher this year, but Lincoln (32-37) dropped a second consecutive series to start the nine-game homestand.

Fargo-Moorhead (44-24) opened the scoring on Ben Livorsi's RBI single in the 2nd. Sam Dexter then hit a three-run homer to make it 4-0.

The 'Dogs got on the board in the 4th when the RedHawks misplayed Rayder Ascanio's bunt and Welington Dotel scored the only run allowed by Kevin McGovern.

The RedHawks responded in the 5th with Leobaldo Pina's RBI double, and added a sixth run with Christian Correa's RBI single in the 9th.

Garett Delano allowed five runs over 4 and 2/3 innings - the first time he's allowed more than two runs in a start since June 21.

The 'Dogs finish the homestand with a three-game series against the Gary SouthShore RailCats. First pitch Monday is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., and pregame coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
