WINNIPEG, MB. - The Winnipeg Goldeyes defeated the Lake Country DockHounds in game two at Shaw Park Saturday evening with a 6-4 final score.

The game's first run came with some bumps, bruises, and even some lost teeth! Winnipeg began their half of the first with two singles by Ian Sagdal and Raul Navarro. After a pitch hit Max Murphy, the magic happened for the Lake Country.

On a pop fly down the left-field line by David Washington, Lamar Briggs sprinted and caught the baseball a step shy of the stands. Momentum carried him into the crowd as he leaped into the third row, maintaining possession of the ball. Since the catch was out of play, each runner was awarded an extra base, including the first run coming across home plate. Briggs made what could be the catch of the year. Sagdal brought a run to the plate in the second inning with an RBI single. Navarro would plate the next run on a sacrifice fly to right field. The score was then 3-0 Goldeyes.

Daikan Yoh scored on a double from Jordan Schaffer for the DockHounds' first run of the game. Gio Brusa plated the second run of the night for Lake Country with a sac-fly as well. The lead was trimmed to just one run at this point after four and a half complete.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Goldeyes shined with two solo home runs, one by Raul Navarro and the other by Washington. It extended the lead to three runs for Winnipeg. In the eighth, Reggie Pruitt Jr. cranked a big fly for the third homer of the contest.

The DockHounds would score one run in the ninth, and it came off the bat of Jake Snider. It would be his fourth base hit and his first RBI of the contest. Lake Country would fall 6-3 at Shaw Park.

All-star Alex McRae would take the losing decision, through 4 and 1/3 innings. He gave up five runs and eight hits. RJ Martinez would win in relief.

The DockHounds will wrap up the series against the Winnipeg Goldeyes on Sunday afternoon. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. You can catch the action on aabaseball.tv, with broadcaster Sam Matheny on the call.
