Chase Simpson belted a 2nd inning grand slam and the Mankato Moondogs went on to defeat the Border Cats 9-4 Friday night at Franklin Rogers Park. The loss dropped the Cats to 1-4 on their current six game road trip and Thunder Bay is now 6-20 in the second half standings.

The Cats had taken an early 2-0 lead in the 1st inning on a two-run single by Philip Lyons (Nicholls State University). Lyons finished the night 2-5 with a double. Jason Vosler (Northeastern University) also doubled as he went 2-4 with a run scored. Ty Stetson (Murray State University) had a 2-3 night at the plate with an RBI and a run scored while Adam Collins (Central Michigan University) went 2-3 with a run scored.

Anthony Pastrana (Dominican College) started for the Cats and took the loss to fall to 0-2. The righthander pitched two innings and allowed three hits and four runs. Pastrana walked three and struck out two.

The Cats conclude the road portion of their schedule tonight against the MoonDogs at 8:05pm ET. Clint Knoblauch (Florida Gulf Coast University) will take his 3-6 record to the mound for Thunder Bay. The Cats wrap up the season with an eight-game homestand beginning Sunday against the Rochester Honkers at 5:05pm at Subway Field.
