Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

WICHITA, Kan. -- The Saltdogs (38-26) matched a franchise record, throwing their ninth shutout as they two-hit the league's best offense in a 5-0 win over the Wichita Wingnuts (41-24) at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium Wednesday night.

Lincoln reached the 11-hit mark offensively for the seventh straight game, and finished a 4-2 road trip with 79 total hits.

Jeff McKenzie (4-3) pitched 5 1/3 innings of one-hit ball to earn the win, allowing a single to the first batter he faced before flipping the proverbial doom switch.

Clayton Cook, Brad Orosey and Stephen Shackleford combined to throw 3 2/3 innings, yielding just one base runner while striking out six.

Jon Smith belted a big two-out, two-run triple in the sixth to extend Lincoln's lead to 3-0.

The Saltdogs went 5-2 at South-leading Wichita this season, and are now 2-1 to begin an 11-game stretch exclusively against the American Association's other division leaders.

Lincoln has now won 20 of its last 26 ballgames.

The Saltdogs matched a season-low by allowing just two hits.

The 'Dogs return home Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. to host the St. Paul Saints on "Buck Night." RHP Shairon Martis is expected to face former Husker RHP Dan Johnson. Radio coverage begins at 6:05 p.m. on KFOR FM 103.3/1240 AM.

Online streaming action starts at 6:30 p.m. from Dog Pound Productions on AmericanAssociationBaseball.TV.
