'Dogs add Suderman and Sheen to roster

Richmond, VA – The Richmond RiverDogs of the United Hockey League have acquired rookie defenseman Matt Suderman and rookie forward Kyle Sheen. Suderman signed as a free agent. Sheen was picked up in a trade from Kalamazoo for picks in the UHL Amateur Draft.

Sheen played in seven games with the Wings and had one point and 49 PIM. The pro rookie spent all or part of five seasons with the Kootenay Ice and Kamloops Blazers of the WHL. Was a member of Kootenay’s 2002 Memorial Cup champions. Had a career high 12 goals while splitting last season between Kootenay and Kamloops.

Suderman joined ‘Dogs after playing briefly with Rio Grande Valley of the CHL (one game, two PIM), and Knoxville of the SPHL (two games). Suderman, a 2001 draft pick of the Atlanta Thrashers, spent all or parts of four seasons playing Major Junior hockey in the WHL prior to turning pro this season. He went to camp with the Thrashers in 2002. Suderman closed his junior career with South Surrey of the BCJHL.

The ‘Dogs continue their road trip with games in Danbury Friday and Elmira Saturday before returning to the Coliseum Sunday vs. Elmira at 5:05. It is a Chick-fil-A Family 4Pak night.
