Dodgers Downed by Rainiers, 5-1

The Tacoma Rainiers used a four-run second inning to build an early lead and held the Oklahoma City Dodgers to just one run, sending the Dodgers to a 5-1 defeat Saturday night at Cheney Stadium. The Rainiers (23-15/60-53) started their rally in the bottom of the second inning with a walk and then a critical error by the Dodgers on a potential double play. Tacoma proceeded to then score four runs after collecting three hits, a hit batter with the bases loaded and a sacrifice fly. Adam Engel homered in the third inning, stretching the lead to 5-0. The Dodgers (23-15/73-38) did not have a baserunner until the fifth inning, as Rainiers starting pitcher Tommy Milone retired the first 14 batters he faced. David Dahl hit a home run leading off the seventh inning to get the Dodgers on the board. Later in the inning, the Dodgers loaded the bases with none out but failed to score.

Of Note:

-The Dodgers have lost four of the first five games in Tacoma and are now 2-7 over their last nine games as Cheney Stadium. Going back to 2012, OKC is 9-17 over their last 26 games in Tacoma.

-The Dodgers have lost five of their last seven games overall. They have also lost five of their last seven road games immediately following a team-record 12-game road winning streak. Before the current seven-game stretch, the Dodgers' previous five road losses came over a span of 31 games.

-David Dahl's home run leading off the seventh inning was the team's only run of the night as well as his third home run of the series. The Dodgers have homered in each of the five games in Tacoma, totaling 13 home runs...The Dodgers have hit at least one home run in 12 of the last 14 games (30 HR) and 24 of the last 28 games (48 HR).

-David Freitas went 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 17 games. It's the second-longest hitting streak by an OKC player this season. During the streak, Freitas is 22-for-68 (.324).

-Michael Busch went 0-for-3 with a walk but extended his current on-base streak to 36 games. It's the longest on-base streak by an Oklahoma City player this season, is the longest active on-base streak in the PCL and is the third-longest streak in the league this season.

-Bryson Brigman collected a third straight multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with a walk. Over the three-game stretch he is 6-for-11, and over his last five games is 9-for-21 with four multi-hit efforts.

-Kyle Hurt made his second Triple-A appearance and pitched the final three innings. After allowing a single to the first batter he faced, Hurt retired nine of his final 10 batters. He struck out seven of the last nine batters for Tacoma.
