Kyle Lewis Is Reno's Superhero with a Grand Swing on Marvel Night

Reno, NV - Kyle Lewis tattooed a clutch grand slam in an 8-6 Reno Aces' (20-18, 64-49) series clinching victory over the Salt Lake Bees (15-23, 52-60) Saturday night at Greater Nevada Field.

With the bases juiced in the bottom of the seventh, Lewis was the last guy the Bees wanted to see. Lewis entered the game with the third highest OPS in Minor League Baseball, minimum 200 plate appearances. The former Mercer University star has now homered 14 times in just 46 games for Reno, a pace of 46 over a full 150 game season. Lewis' incredible swing broke a 3-3 tie and put the Aces ahead for good in a series-clinching victory.

Blake Walston kept the Bees off the board with six innings of scoreless ball. The former first round pick walked five, hit another, and struck out two. Walston, in his typical stingy fashion, stranded myriad baserunners and held Salt Lake to just one hit in 18 at-bats. The 22-year-old lanky lefty lowered his ERA to 4.28 in a quality start, with the lone hit allowed on a single from David Fletcher in the fifth.

Pavin Smith delivered run-scoring singles with two outs in both the third and fifth, driving in two of the Aces' first three runs of the game. Dominic Fletcher was on base four more times with two hits and two walks. Fletcher reached safely in 10 straight plate appearances before a groundout in the eighth. Fletcher, Lewis, Smith, and Ali Sánchez had multiple hits on a victorious Marvel Superhero Night at Greater Nevada Field.

The Aces and Bees conclude their series Sunday at 1:05 p.m. PT.
